Positives:
- GIC referral made smoothly, the GP was suprisingly supportive and knowledgeable
- Not bothered when I talked about DIY, again surprisingly knowledgeable and understanding
- Will do any blood tests requested by a private endo, outside of a shared care agreement
- Happy to change name
- Offered to support me in changing my gender marker and could accurately advise on how this would work, and what the negatives might be
Negatives:
- Newnham Walk will not enter any shared care prescribing agreements, with anybody - this has been made practice policy (even though the policy only refers to ADHD, clearly all the GPs have been told they cannot do this)
- Will not do blood tests for DIY
Overall:
Sucks that they can't do shared care anymore. But they are happy to do blood tests, which is more prohibitively expensive that the actual hormones (if you are happy to self-inject, that is). A solid option for anybody who is able to self-inject, or able to learn (NHS guidance on this is available online, as many medications are injected at home routinely).
I'm aware that some of the GPs here are transphobic. The information supplied above only refers to the positive experience I had with the doctor that I saw.
I don't want to list people myself, but 'Action for Trans Health' have a spreadsheet with information on who you should try to make an appointment with at Newnham Walk, and I can attest that this is reliable - it is worth waiting to avoid the more conservative GPs, so give it a google.

positive. Switched to this after my previous gp refused to enter shared care with private endo.

GIC referral completed after one appointment with GP and having to fill out one form.
The practice do not offer shared care - although the policy on their website only details ADHD medication - they have not been forthcoming.
I requested a blood test, via their online system, for a private appointment and detailed the exact bloods I needed and they were happy to arrange this appointment for me.

I was not at this GP practice for very long, but I used them to get a GIC referral. After switching to a different surgery, I found out that the GIC in question had never actually received the referral from Newnham Walk, and I spent quite some time chasing this down. Eventually I managed to get the referral reinstated for the original date at which it was meant to have been made.
It took a couple of calls but they did change my name.
